A Prairie Dress a Day: Two ♥ Lavender Garden

Vintage Lavender Garden Dress

Well, Day One’s dress already sold! I forgot to mention in my last post that I am pricing these dresses lower than usual in an effort to try and wake my shop from its long winter slumber. I find pricing to be one of the most difficult things about selling vintage online. You don’t want to undervalue your item and thereby undervalue vintage in general (possibly angering your fellow sellers in the process), but you also want these fabulous pieces that you’ve carefully and affectionately curated to find loving homes.

This winter has been especially hard on me financially, despite all my best efforts with Etsy and my attempts to find other work to supplement my income (I learned through a job search program that Nevada County is the worst place in California to find work, and I must add that it is especially hard for a single mama without much schedule flexibility to look appealing to a potential employer). I know that my woes are a part of a larger economic pattern and that I am hardly alone in my struggle, and I want other women who may be in a similar situation to be able to treat themselves to a pretty dress without any undue stress. Last week I went through and reduced prices on almost every item in the shop. And I’m going to keep up the sales, giveaways (<– click on the facebook icon on your left there to be in the loop about my frequent $50 shop gift certificate giveaways), Heartsy promotions, and returning customer discounts. I mean, everyone wins, right?

Here’s to the spring thaw bringing new streams of income into the lives of those of us who need it right now. I, for one, feel optimistic about the sun’s renewing energy. Oh! And here’s to me finding a job that allows me to wear all of my favorite prairie dresses from my personal collection to work and somehow have it seem entirely appropriate:-)

That dress is gorgeous!! I can see why it sold so fast! Oh now may be the time to finally pick a vintage dress to wear….I think I have been looking for a dress from your shop for like 2 years now lol!!(probably longer) makes me sound rather indecisive doesn’t it hehe…sometimes they seem rather small I am not that big like an 8 but not knowing vintage sizing, I am never sure what would fit. I need to get my measurements. ~Sorry to hear that it has been hard for you to find work. Hopefully something will come up for you soon, maybe the pricing change on Etsy will help as well when I was selling my dolls I changed the price just a little and then I had a bunch of sales it made a huge difference. Good Luck ~Love Heather
