Shop Preview: Paisley Ballerinas, Boho Princesses, and Prairie Dolls

From Sasha

It gives me a particular thrill when I find dresses that I know are going to make people really, really happy. This weekend's treasure hunt was full of such scores, and I can't wait to see who gets these beauties!  Each of them has a great fit, gorgeous lines, soft fabric, and that extra je ne sais quoi that will have everyone heaping compliments on you. This is Installment Number One of this week's new items, and they are all going up in the shop just as fast as my little fingers will type!

The Most Coveted Dress

From Amber

A few weeks ago Sasha photographed herself in our Alfred Shaheen Peacock Dress. Later that day she went home and put the picture up in a blog entitled August in California: Dry Grass and Gunne Gowns, planning on putting the dress up for sale in the shop the following morning.

Well, by the time the morning rolled around our blog comment box, Flickrmail, and Etsy Convo's were filled with requests for sole buying privileges on the dress! It was the biggest response we've ever had for a piece of clothing, and we were more than a little surprised! But the print, of course, is fantastic.

The ladies fought a hard fight, but it was Izzy, the lovely woman behind the Etsy shop YeYe! Vintage Boutique, who staked the first claim. Check out her recent blog post featuring a mountainside photo shoot in which she manages to make this gorgeous dress look even more so thanks to her beautiful natural surroundings and amazing styling…

Shop Preview: Hippie Chic and Bundly Fall Goodness

From Sasha

Today's photo shoot took place right back in My Big Backyard. It's changed so much in the past month! The sweet peas and grasses are almost completely dry, and there are tons of baby frogs hopping around under foot. Yessums, baby frogzums! They really are that cute.

Check out these cute dresses I found! Soft and pretty, my two favorite things:

And skirts! This one has elephants on it. I love an elephant!:

A gorgeous wool skirt from Saks Fifth Avenue (thank to my mom for this fur headpiece– I snaked it from her closet last time I was visiting! It is going to come in handy all winter long):

And yes, it is almost capelet time… and there is nothing I like better than a great capelet! In red plaid, hel-LO.

The "yeah, my capelet rocks, whattaya want to do about it?" face. Somewhat silly outfit thanks to early morning "idea" fest… but I decided to go with it. When we first started an Etsy shop, I asked for a critique on the forums, and one girl told us to quit with the weird accessorizing. I was hurt but took it to heart… a little too much, I decided. I am weird. I can't hide it from you anymore.

And an awesome fitted leather jacket. Here I am trying to look like a Badass:

Double The Happiness!

Some of you will remember our friend and customer Hana, who gifted us with the amazing amethysts that we used in the Crystal Unicorn Visions photo shoot in June. Well, we were sooooo happy to find this picture in our inbox today, of Hana wearing a whole Violet Folklore outfit– a dress and belt! They seem so perfectly right on her, and she looks absolutely radiant. What a fabulous gift to start our day!

This photo was taken at the awesome business that Hana owns, the Happy Happy Crystal Shop in Setagaya, Tokyo. (Which, by the way, is our favorite name for a store ever!) Those of you in Japan should look her up… she does classes, we hear. Way cool.
